Our two-day workshops are run by experienced video producers and trainers. They are designed to be fun, practical, informative and interactive, and will provide valuable skills that can be adapted to making many types of videos. The workshops are held at training facilities easily accessible by road and rail.
Over the two days you will learn the foundations of planning, shooting, editing and uploading a video. We will be following our Personal Introduction Storyboard, which means you will be working on a video about yourself during the workshop. You may wish to bring along some items to personalise your video, such as props, branded clothing, mascots, business cards etc.
There are only ten places available on each workshop and you will be working in pairs to film your video. We appreciate that every delegate has their own pace of learning, which means we cannot guarantee that everyone will leave the workshop with a video they will be confident to share on social media straight away. You may prefer to complete the video at your own pace after the workshop.
Advance payment of the total price required before attending the workshop.
Once booked, swapping workshop dates may incur additional charges.
Cancellation terms: 30 days or more – 25% of total price, 15 days – 50% of total price, 7 days – 100% of total price.
Please see our full terms and conditions.
You will need to bring a suitable filming device with you, such as a smart phone or tablet. We recommend the following:
- An iOS or Android* mobile device capable of shooting and storing video and running a video editing app.
- An iPad 4th Generation or newer. Check your iPad model here.
- An iPhone 5 or newer. Check your iPhone model here.
- An Android device (phone or tablet) that runs Android 4.2 Jellybean or newer.
- Minimum 16GB internal storage.
* We are not currently teaching with Windows devices.
Please ensure your device is fully charged before you come, and that you bring your charger with you. Please also ensure you have enough storage space on your device to accommodate new video footage.
You will also need to bring a set of headphones for editing, and a notebook and pen.
We recommend you download a video editing app before you come to the workshop. There are several free and paid options available, such as iMovie but we recommend Kinemaster for both iOS and Android devices. This app costs $39 per year but there is a free version to get started, and we are able to offer 30 day free access to the full version once you book the workshop. An access code will be sent to you one week prior to the workshop.
If you are having trouble opening an editing programme, we suggest updating your device’s operating system or upgrading your device.
You will need a backup solution for your footage – we recommend a cloud storage facility such as Dropbox. If you do not already have a cloud storage account, please set one up before you attend the workshop. Simply visit your chosen provider’s website – eg Dropbox.com – and follow the instructions to set up a free account.
If you don’t already have one, you will also need to set up a YouTube channel before attending the workshop. To set up your account, follow these instructions.
It is best to set up your channel on a computer rather than a mobile device.
Before you attend the workshop you will need to purchase some additional accessories to make your device video-ready. These are:
A smartphone mount or a tablet mount (depending on what device you have)
A tie-clip microphone
A microphone extension cable
A mains extension cable
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FOLLOW OUR WORKSHOP MATERIAL WITHOUT THESE ITEMS SO PLEASE ENSURE YOU PURCHASE THEM PRIOR TO ATTENDING THE WORKSHOP AND BRING THEM WITH YOU.
